Fall
September and October bring the first frosty nights and set the stage for some major changes in the outdoors. The birch and tamarack shimmer a golden glow against the pine and spruce. The fish are very active in the cooler water giving you plenty of opportunities to catch a trophy. The bears are stocking up for their winter hibernation and the bull moose are running wild during their mating season.
Many visitors to this area say this is the best time of year. The weather is cool and crisp. You can go fishing and hunting and the landscape is colourful and quiet - perfect for enjoying any outdoor activity. Why not come up just for a colour tour? Our association can tailor the fall vacation you want at any number of locations in the area.
Fall is hunting season again! Small game and bird hunting run from September 15 to December 15 in most parts of the Chapleau area. Grouse hunting is most prized for its delicate, white meat. Fall black bear season is in September as well as exclusive archery hunting for moose. Rifle season for moose opens the second week of October and closes November 15.
